This policy explains how The Orange Room uses cookies and similar technologies on this website, and how you can control them. The site is run by [Company legal name]. Please read it alongside our Privacy Policy.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website saves on your device when you visit. Similar technologies, such as local storage and tracking pixels, work in much the same way. They let a site remember things about your visit, understand how it is being used or measure advertising. In this policy, we call all of them cookies.
The cookies we use
Essential
These are needed for the site to work properly. We set one ourselves: a small first-party item called or_consent, which remembers your cookie choice so we do not ask you again on every visit. It is saved as a cookie, which expires after 180 days, and in your browser's local storage, which keeps it until you clear your browser data. It only records whether you chose "Accept" or "Essential only". It does not identify you and is not used for tracking. Under UK law, essential cookies like this do not need your consent.
Analytics (only with your consent)
We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use our site, such as which pages are popular and how visitors move between them. This helps us improve the site. Google Analytics sets cookies such as _ga and others beginning with _ga_. Google handles this information under its own privacy policy.
Marketing (only with your consent)
We use Meta Pixel to measure how well any adverts we run on Facebook and Instagram perform, and to help show our adverts to people who have visited our site. Meta Pixel can set cookies such as _fbp. Meta handles this information under its own privacy policy.
Analytics and marketing only load if you say yes
When you first visit, our cookie banner asks for your choice. Google Analytics and Meta Pixel only load after you click "Accept". If you choose "Essential only", or do not make a choice, they stay switched off and the site works just the same.
Embedded content from other sites
Some pages show content from other services, which may set their own cookies or use similar technologies when that content loads. These are controlled by those services, not by us.
- YouTube. Videos are embedded in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), which is designed to limit what YouTube stores. Some videos load when you scroll near them and may start playing automatically with the sound off; others only load when you click play. Once a video plays, YouTube may use cookies or similar technologies.
- Google Maps and our Street View tour. These only load when you scroll to them or click to view them. Once they load, Google may set cookies.
- The enquiry form. Our enquiry form is provided by Tripleseat and may use cookies or similar technologies it needs to work.
- Ticket platforms. When you click through to buy tickets on DICE, Eventbrite or Resident Advisor, you leave our site and their own cookie and privacy policies apply.
Changing your choice
You can change your mind at any time. Click Cookie settings to bring the cookie banner back and make a new choice.
If you withdraw your consent, analytics and marketing tools will not load on the pages you visit after that. Cookies they have already set may stay on your device until they expire or you delete them in your browser.
Controlling cookies in your browser
Most browsers, including Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge, let you manage cookies in their privacy or site data settings. Your browser's help pages explain how. You can usually:
- see and delete cookies already stored on your device
- block all cookies, or only third-party cookies
- browse in a private or incognito window, which clears cookies when you close it
If you block or delete all cookies, including essential ones, we will not be able to remember your cookie choice and the banner may appear again on your next visit. You can also opt out of Google Analytics on all websites using Google's browser add-on.
Changes to this policy
If we add or change the tools we use, we will update this policy and the date at the top of this page.
